Outdoor Décor Tips for This Spring & Summer Seasons

Are you itching to give your outdoor living space and hot tub installation a refresh this spring? Are you looking for unique but inexpensive ways to bring new life to your backyard? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

While hot tubs can be used year-round, we want to help ensure that you maximize the potential of your spa this spring and summer season, too!

We’ve put together a handy list of some great outdoor décor tips to take your yard and spa installation from drab to fab.

1. Add Outdoor Lighting

Most hot tubs have internal lights to illuminate the water, so you won’t need to add lighting to your spa. That doesn’t mean you can’t light up the landscape surrounding your spa, however.

Low-voltage lights can be used to draw attention to any architectural element you fancy from stone walkways to pergolas and verandas. They can also be used to add a soft glow to your rock garden, a trellis, or individual trees.

Adding outdoor lighting to your backyard can completely change the feel and atmosphere. Not only does it look great, but you’ll also be able to enjoy your outdoor space long after the sun goes down.

2. Update Your Patio Furniture

If your deck or patio furniture is looking a little worse for wear, it’s easy, not to mention cheaper, to give it a facelift rather than buying new.

Wicker, metal, or iron furniture can be spray painted in any hue that takes your fancy. This easy fix can be done each year or as necessary. For added comfort, purchase some complementary cushions for the seats.

Wooden furniture can also receive a lift with some light sanding and cleaning followed by a coat of stain. Even if you don’t need cushions for your wood seating, a few pillows and a cozy throw will add a touch of comfort and a pop of color.

Don’t underestimate the power of good seating and lounge areas! Seating can help to extend your patio and outdoor living space, complementing your spa installation and keeping the conversation flowing.

3. Add Some Privacy

If you’re a hot tub owner, you can never have too much privacy. Adding some much-needed cover around your spa doesn’t have to be complicated, however.

If you’re a fan of the natural look, trees or shrubs make a wonderful privacy screen. The best trees for privacy are evergreens such as spruce, thuja, and cypress.

They don’t lose their leaves, offering year-round privacy. That also means you won’t have to clean leaves off of your spa cover come fall.

If you don’t want to do any planting, a lattice screen with ivy is a nice touch.

4. Hanging Plants

Nothing adds color and texture like hanging plants. The great thing about them is that you can hang them just about anywhere: from a pergola or veranda, from a wall or a fence, or even from a tree.

If you have a privacy wall by your spa, hanging baskets are a great way to decorate it.

Choose from greenery like ferns or multi-hued blooms. The best varieties for hanging are petunias, fuchsia, impatiens, begonias, alyssum, verbena, or pansies.
